Mitochondrial Genome of Rattus tiomanicus (Rodentia: Muridae) and Molecular Phylogeny of Murinae

چکیده

Rattus tiomanicus is a murid rodent of considerable agricultural and public health importance in Southeast Asia. The whole mitochondrial genome R. was sequenced by the Ion Torrent PGM platform. It had total length 16,309 bp, consisting 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA 22 tRNA genes non-coding regions (L-strand replication origin control region). Only TAA incomplete T-stop codons were represented genes. Of tRNAs, tryptophan (W) ACU anticodon. cloverleaf structure for serine S1 (AGN) lacked entire D-arm, while lysine (K) tRNA, DHU arm D-loop. Molecular phylogeny based on 15 mt-genes indicated having closest genetic affinity to rattus complex (R. rattus, tanezumi). There major clades Murinae subfamily namely Rattini tribe Apodemini, Murini Hydromyini tribes. mitogenome will serve as useful dataset studying systematics phylogenetic relationships rodents.

Dietary Ecology of Murinae (Muridae, Rodentia): A Geometric Morphometric Approach

Murine rodents represent a highly diverse group, which displays great ecological versatility. In the present paper we analyse the relationship between dental morphology, on one hand, using geometric morphometrics based upon the outline of first upper molar and the dietary preference of extant murine genera, on the other. This ecomorphological study of extant murine rodents demonstrates that die...

Distinct genetic characteristics of Sri Lankan Rattus and Bandicota (Murinae, Rodentia) inferred from mitochondrial and nuclear markers.

We examined genetic variation in black rats (the Rattus rattus complex) from Kandy District, Sri Lanka using mitochondrial cytochrome b (cytb, 1140 bp) and nuclear melanocortin 1 receptor (Mc1r, 954 bp) gene sequences together with database sequences. We confirmed the existence of two divergent mitochondrial lineages in Sri Lankan black rats, with genetic distance of 2.2% and estimated divergen...

Rattus norvegicus (Rodentia: Muridae) Infected by Leishmania (Leishmania) infantum (syn. Le. chagasi) in Brazil

In the present study we surveyed the fauna of phlebotomine sand flies and small mammals in peridomestic areas from a Brazilian municipality where the American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) is endemic. A total of 608 female phlebotomine sand flies were captured during nine months in 2009 and 2010. Seven different species were represented with 60% of them being Lutzomyia intermedia and Lu. whitma...

(Rodentia: Muridae) from Peninsular Malaysia

There are 25 species of rats and mice (familly Muridae) in peninsular Malaysia (Medway 1978). Of these the karyotypes of 19 species have been described (Yong 1968, 1969 and 1973). The chromosomes of the other 6 species found in this country have, however, not been reported. Of these 6 species, the chromosomes of Hapalomys and Pithecheir have also not been reported from other countries. The pres...
